Weekend! Family!

I'm really excited to spend some time with my family this weekend. I can't wait for them to get here. I'm also getting a haircut and promising myself to finish two rolls of film that have taken inexcusably long to get through.

Away...

I'm leaving a week from today, and my mind has already gone, I fear. I am doing my very best to stay here in the moment--a good life lesson in general!

White Calm

Ooh, feeling very stressed today. I need to find my calm center,

I need to find my calm center,

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Seeking Simplicity (for at least a few weeks)

Wow, what a great weekend. I'll try to get some pictures up soon. For a little recap, the weekend involved: fun finds at the swap meet including a bubble gum pink sweater I'm wearing right now, preparing for the barbecue, soaking my toes in the incredible inflatable pool we put up in the yard, parasols and bathing suits, good company, good drinks, great food, getting to see the fireworks from a bridge down the street from my house, wrapping it all up with a bonfire in the yard and friends with guitars and incredible voices. Oh, and a bubble machine providing Southern-California-friendly "fireworks". It was incredible.

Now I'm preparing for a big couple of weeks: my family comes into town on Friday, and then I'm off to London a week from Thursday!

So, with all the busy preparation, I'm keeping it simple and keeping any serious projects at bay until I return. But that doesn't mean I can't look. So here is a collage artist (Valerie Roybal) I came across. I'm inspired by her bright yet understated and thoughtful style.

Another artist I'm liking today is Anne Toebbe. There is something really homey and comforting about her home interiors.

Have a Happy Fourth!

Whew! It's been one of those weeks. But, I'm taking a long weekend, which is much needed. I foresee a lot of food, friends, fireworks, possibly the fair and definitely fun. Ah, alliteration! Happy Fourth!

Last year, there was a lot of this:And this year will be no different. (Except K is in England, where I don't see them taking to American flag-waving in quite the same way).

Have a great weeekend!
