Today I was listening to
Madeleine Albright talk about her use of brooches as a diplomacy tool. Different shapes and animals would indicate her moods and aims for a meeting or speech. How awesome is it to be able to send messages to your enemies through your jewelry? I mean, wearing a snake pin to Iraq after being called a serpent by Saddam Hussein is pretty ballsy, and I kind of love her for it.
This story got me thinking about brooches and pins, which I have never used as communication devices, but do love for their ability to add a little fun or color to an ensemble.
